5 Dumbest Reasons To Kill Your Spouse

Updated on November 28, 2010

When Stupid Arguments Lead to Murder...

If you've ever been in a relationship, especially a marriage, than you've probably had more than one stupid fight with your partner. We've all participated in those ridiculous, huge fights over something absolutely idiotic, that leaves both people feeling really dumb afterward. Most people will go cool down when the argument is done, realize how silly it was, and then laugh with their partner about it later on. Then there are those people who get so angry over something stupid, that they resort to murder; I guess they win the argument!

Don't get me wrong, every single murder is tragic and disturbing. I have written quite a few true crime articles, and in all my research, I have read a lot of really creepy, horrific things. Then, once in a while, I come across a story that is really mind-boggling. It's still tragic, but it is so unbelievably stupid.

So here it is; The 5 Dumbest Reasons to Kill Your Spouse. These are all crazy, but true accounts of the stupid reasons that five spouses went homicidal, killing their partners.

#5 - You Don't Want To Watch The Same Thing on TV

In South Africa, 61-year-old David Makoeya was beaten to death by his wife Francina (68) and son Collin (36), and his daughter Lebogang (23) when he wanted to changed the channel to the World Cup soccer game on June 13, 2010.  The rest of his family wanted to watch a gospel program.  After fighting over the remote, Makoeya attempted to change the channel by hand, and his family began to assault him, bashing his head against the wall, and stabbing him.  When police arrived, Makoeya was already dead.  His wife, son and daughter have been charged

#4 - You Find Their Secret Porn Stash

In Brooklyn, New York, 32-year-old Shellyann Henry became enraged at her husband on Septemer 9th, 2010, after opening up their DVD player, and finding a porn DVD inside. This resulted in a violent argument erupting between the couple. Rudolph, 44, grabbed a kitchen knife, and Shellyann armed herself with a pair of scissors. Shellyann eventually "won" the argument, by stabbing Rudolph to death with the scissors.

Shellyann apparently appeared unscathed by the murder when police arrived on scene, where Rudolph was pronounced dead. She continued ranting the entire time about the pornographic movie she had found inside the house. Her 3 children, who were in the house at the time, were physically unharmed. She was arrested and charged with second degree murder, and criminal possession of a weapon.

#3 - You Don't Agree On What To Name Your Baby

In Boston, 51-year-old Joseph Cummings shot his longtime girlfriend, Kimberly Nguyen (35), who was pregnant, and her her sister, Lily Nguyen (29), before turning the gun on himself. Apparently, just prior to this occurring, the could had been arguing over a name for the unborn child. He wanted the child to have only his last name, while she wanted to hyphenate it. When Lily heard gunshots, she tried to escape by jumping out of a second-story window, but Cummings shot her as she tried to run away. He then turned the gun on himself. Kimberly's 12-year old daughter from a previous relationship was also present at the time of the murders, but she escaped to a neighbour's home, where she called 911.

On September 11th, 2010 in Jackson, Kentucky, 47-year-old Stanley Neace became enraged when did not like the way his wife had cooked his eggs. In the mobile home park where he lived, Stanley grabbed a gun, and started a rampage, killing 5 people in two mobile homes, before killing himself.

When Stanley got angry with his wife over the eggs, which were apparently cold, he shot her. She fled to a neighbours trailer, where they called the police, but he followed her with a 12-gauge shotgun. He shot his wife, stepdaughter, and three witnesses, including a woman who had just stepped out onto her porch.  He shot himself after police arrived.

#1 - You Don't Like Their Facebook Status Update

I understand that having your wife change her relationship status to 'single' on Facebook could be embarrassing or hurtful, but apparently, it's made more than man murderously angry. One of the reasons this 'dumb reason to kill your spouse' gets the #1 spot is because it has happened not only once, but three different times. The oddest part being that they all occurred in England in 2008.

In February of 2008, in Croydon, 34-year-old Wayne Forrester, hacked his wife, Emma Forrester, 34, to death with a meat cleaver, after he discovered she had changed her Facebook relationship status to 'single'. It was only four days after they had separated when he attacked her in a fury fueled by alcohol and cocaine, because he thought she had made him look like a fool by changing her status. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.

On May 1st, 2008, 41-year-old Gary Grinhoff bludgeoned to death his 42-year-old wife Tracey Grinhoff, after she had updated her status, and posted other messages on Facebook indicating she was splitting up with her husband. He had been suspicious that she was having an affair for quite some time. He then went into the woods nearby, and killed himself with his cordless electric drill.

On May 12th, 2008, in Staffordshire, 41-year-old Edward Richardson went to his in-laws house and attacked his 26-year-old estranged wife Sarah with a knife in a frenzy, after he discovered she had changed her relationship status to 'single' on Facebook, and she would not reply to his text messages. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
